Made from bone, these large-hole beads get their coloring from the natural bone (off-white) and dark brown (dye from a batik process). Though I haven't done it yet, I love the idea of one of them strung as the focal on an earthtone kumihimo braid.
The beads measure approx. 22-25mm x 15mm. Just as with any handcrafted bead, the colors and size vary and the beads themselves are slightly irregular. That is what makes them special.
These were purchased from a young, hardworking Kenyan family man who visited my shop.
