Though these would be ideal as bead cones for a multi-strand necklace, I also like to use them with beads that might otherwise be difficult to cap (as shown in the illustration). The lacy quality lends itself to conforming slightly to hug the bead in some instances. 

 

The bead I've used to demonstrate is a flattened marquis shape that is 18.7mm tall and 12mm at its widest point. It is nearly 5mm thick.
